Quality is built in everyday work

At Ronivaara, quality means that experiences are planned and carried out with attention to people, horses, safety, the environment and the promises made to our guests.

External quality and sustainability systems give us tools to assess our work, document practices and continue developing them. They support the everyday work – they do not replace it.

Our current quality and responsibility work is reflected in the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label, SRL Laatutalli and HyväTalli Silver level.

Ruska Laukka – a pioneer in responsible horse experiences

From the beginning of the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) programme until September 2026, Ruska Laukka served as a pioneer company and an example of responsibly delivered horse experiences. Sustainable Travel Finland is Visit Finland’s programme for tourism companies and destinations developing sustainable tourism.

Beyond this role, our commitment to responsible tourism remains strong, and we continue this work independently as part of everyday life at Ronivaara. At Ronivaara, this work is reflected in practical choices concerning:

  • continuous monitoring and development.
  • animal welfare
  • appropriate group sizes
  • clear information for guests
  • safety
  • nature and the farm environment
  • local culture and the Finnhorse
  • responsible use of resources

SRL Laatutalli

Ruska Laukka is an SRL Laatutalli stable within the Finnish Equestrian Federation’s quality system.

For us, quality stable work is visible in professional horse care, safe and planned activities, suitable equipment and facilities, competent guidance and the continuous development of stable practices.

The quality system supports the same principle that guides everyday life at Ronivaara: good experiences begin with well-cared-for horses and responsible ways of working.

Ruska Laukka on Suomen Ratsastajainliiton laatutalli

HyväTalli – Silver level

Ronivaara has achieved HyväTalli Silver level in the Suomen Hippos quality system.

The HyväTalli assessment looks at the everyday life of the stable as a whole, including horse health care, feeding, movement, rest, living conditions, safety, documented practices and continuous development.

At Ronivaara, horse welfare is also considered through the individual horse’s behaviour, needs, workload, recovery and willingness to participate.

What this means for your visit

For a guest, quality is not mainly about the labels displayed on a website.

It should be visible in the experience itself:

  • you receive clear information before your visit
  • the activity is matched to the participants and conditions
  • horses are considered as individuals
  • group sizes allow proper guidance
  • equipment and working practices support safety
  • plans can be adapted when weather, ground conditions or horse welfare require it.

The aim is a good day for both the people taking part and the horses involved.

Quality means continuing to learn

Conditions change, horses change and knowledge develops.

Feedback, safety observations, animal welfare observations and everyday experience are used to review how we work. External quality systems provide additional structure for this continuous development.

A label is therefore not the end point. It is one part of an ongoing responsibility to look at what we do, recognise what works and improve what can be done better.
